Updated Field Poll

The Field Poll released the results of a survey today that tests Californians' general attitudes toward the health care system and specific opinions regarding the Governor’s thwarted health care reform effort. In brief, the survey, which updates a similar survey conducted in December, finds that;

73 percent of voters are concerned about the State’s failure to enact health care reform.

59 percent worry about not being able to pay for all the costs of a major illness or injury.

58 percent think they may have to pay more out of pocket for health insurance, and 57 percent fear losing coverage altogether.

72 percent of voters generally favored Schwarzenegger's plan, even as a majority had concerns about the funding scheme.

84 percent favored requiring health insurance companies to accept anyone regardless of prior health problems.

Mandated coverage was a winner, with 73 percent saying that employers should help pay for employee coverage, and 68 percent said individuals should be compelled to have coverage.

67 percent liked the idea of sharing the cost of health insurance among individuals, employers and government.
